How it works

These models reconstruct rather than recover: they produce a plausible version of what was probably there, so results vary with the source photo. Run it again or try a different image if the first pass misses.

What to expect

This is the opposite direction from our no beard filter, and a separate tool because people arrive wanting one or the other and never both. The beard is matched to your own hair colour and to the shape of your jaw, which is what stops it reading as a sticker: a beard that ignores the face underneath looks pasted on immediately. It works best on a clean shaven or lightly stubbled face photographed from the front, where the jawline is visible. A face already carrying a beard gives it less to change, and a strong side angle means the far side of the jaw is guesswork.

Common questions

Can I choose the style of beard?

Not yet. It adds a full, neatly groomed beard that suits the face it finds. Styles are the obvious next step and would work the way the hair colour changer's colours already do.

Will the colour match my hair?

That is what it is asked to do, and it usually gets close. Very light blond hair and heavily dyed hair are the two cases where it most often picks something a shade off.

Does it work if I already have a beard?

It will tidy and fill one, but the change is small. If you want the beard gone instead, use the no beard filter.

Is this what I would actually look like?

It is a good preview of the shape, and it cannot know how your hair grows. Patchiness, growth direction, and how fast it fills in are yours alone, and no photo tool can predict them.

Does it change anything else about my face?

It should not. The instruction asks for the face shape, hairstyle, expression, skin tone, and lighting to stay as they are.

Will the photo come back the same size?

Yes. Editing models return about one megapixel whatever they are given, so the result is resized back to what you uploaded.
